How could we resist these! But, there are times when you want something different and we're here to help you find ways to spruce up your day and wow your guests.

Let's start!

1. Cupcakes

Ok, so we know it's technically still cake, but these mini versions are so versatile! Cupcakes are a great way to please a huge crowd with multiple flavors (a great advantage for picky wedding guests). Great bakers will offer the opportunity to mix & match several cake, icing, & filling flavors.

Couture Cakes of Greenville offers flavors such as mint chocolate chip, key lime, and salted caramel (with gluten free options available!). Holly's Cakes serves up favorites like strawberry, sweet potato, and banana. Your guests will be excited to try these!

Cupcakes also become instant decor at your wedding venue! Working with your baker and coordinator, you & your guests will be blown away by these mini cakes.

2. Cake Pops Cake

Cake pops. Need we say more? These little creations are made by mixing baked cake with icing & then covering them with chocolate or icing. Susan at Couture Cakes of Greenville created an ombre cake pops cake for a bride! The possibilities are endless.

3. Cookies

Similar to cupcakes, cookies are an easy & convenient treat for guests. Did you know in Pittsburgh, wedding receptions typically feature long banquet tables filled with trays of homemade cookies?

We suggest opting for personalized cookies for your big day. Holly's Cakes can create any design of your choice be it a monogram, your university's logo, or even a photo of you and your sweetheart. Folks may think they're keepsakes, but they'll be too tempted to see how long they'll last.

4. Cookie Cake

And why wouldn't more cookies be a good idea! You probably remember cookie cakes from your 7th birthday party when they come from a tempting store in the local mall.

Here, we have Couture Cakes of Greenville's take on the nostalgic treat. Creating a tiered cake made entirely out of cookies. Now that's something your guests wouldn't expect. (Baker's note: make this even better by adding an ice cream bar!)

5. Dessert Shots

If you can tell, there's a bit of a pattern to our madness here. We're loving wedding cake alternatives that offer a variety of sweet options! Dessert Shots are no exception. These treats are more than just cute decor. Guests can have the choice of flavors such as cheesecake, key lime pie, banana pudding, tiramisu, and even cookies and milk!

6. Popcorn

Have you ever thought of how much people really enjoy popcorn?

You may think we've taken you off the sweet path, but don't doubt us just yet! Some great popcorn places offer tons of flavors to satisfy your sweet tooth. Poppington's Popcorn of Greenville created these take home favors that were filled with traditional butter & salted popcorn, churro caramel, and (our favorite) vanilla drizzle kettle korn.

Create a popcorn bar (because people LOVE food bars) and supply your guests with cute take-home boxes. They'll love it.

7. Last, but not least.... DOUGHNUTS!

Of course, we couldn't forget about doughnuts today!

Another versatile dessert, doughnuts can be created & displayed in a multitude of ways for your wedding day. Placing doughnuts on a tiered cake stand gives the look of a "doughnut cake." They can be stacked on a personalized board for guests to choose as they please. And they're just downright fun & delicious!

(These doughnuts were done by The Donut Experiment in Greenville, SC.)
