Hello!

I’m SO excited about writing this review! Okay, I’ll be honest, I didn’t really expect much from a hotel on the wedding side of things. I’ve been to MANY hotels, but I had never actually stayed at an Embassy Suites before, and I was pleasantly surprised! Below you will find a detailed review of my stay.

First Impressions

When I first drove onto the grounds, the first thing I saw was it’s beauty! This hotel sits on 130 acres of land, so it is definitely different from most hotels (they are usually close to a road and not the best looking from the outside). They just recently  got done with $14 million worth of renovations, so the hotel is very new and modern throughout.

Another thing I noticed is the type of people that were staying there. A lot of hotels can have some…questionable…guests, but everyone there was so nice! The staff was also very clean and nice and actually seemed to enjoy their job, which made my stay even better. The last thing I enjoyed was the Event Sales Manager Scott Malouche. He made me feel so special (even though I wasn’t even a bride) and had everything ready for me when I got to the hotel. You will work with him from the beginning, so you end up becoming great friends!

Rooms

Once I got to my room (after a very short check-in line) the first thing I loved was the space! They are a suite-only hotel, so no matter what room you get, you won’t feel like you’re staying in a closet. They gave me one of the “bridal packages” which included a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries (and might I say YUMMY!! They were gone in about 2 minutes), a handwritten note by Scott Malouche, and a specialized gift that was waiting for me in the room.

As I made my way through the room, the next stop was the bathroom. Now, most aren’t that special, but there were two things that really stood out to me; the sliding glass door to the shower, and a REAL hairdryer! I loved the sliding glass door because it made it seem larger and much more clean (not like the grungy, old shower curtains most hotels have). Let’s be real ladies, those weird half-hair dryers that are attached to the wall usually don’t cut it, and the less us girls have to pack the better! (My boyfriend is always nagging me about how much stuff I pack since he has to carry it all, so the guys would appreciate this as well!).

So, if your family travels like most, more than likely there will be people sharing a room, and someone is going to get stuck on the pull-out couch. Not to fear! Unlike most hotels, their pull-out couch was actually very comfortable! No more playing “Rock, Paper, Scissors” to find out who has to suffer and sleep on the couch.

The last thing I liked about the room was the snack and drink selection they had. They offered multiple types of chips and cookies, plus hot coffee/tea/chocolate drinks, and drinks in the fridge! All complimentary so you don't have to worry about opening up a $10 water by mistake.

Food

Next is my favorite pastime: food. I wasn’t expecting much since it’s a hotel, but I was oh, so, wrong! We sat down to dinner with Scott, and the first thing I liked was how calm it was. No screaming babies or lots of Chatty Cathys, just a nice quiet space.

-Dinner

We started off with a bottle of wine from their amazing selection. For an appetizer we had “crab cigars” and “bbq pork cigars” which were crab and bbq wrapped in a wafer...I scarfed those down like there was no tomorrow! Next we ordered three different entrees: Roasted Lamb with prosciutto wrapped asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes, Grilled Ribeye Steak with gorgonzola butter, garlic broccolini, and yukon mashed potatoes, and Grilled Alaskan Salmon with tomato caper bacon butter, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, and rosemary balsamic reduction...yes, this was at a hotel! I tried every one of them and loved them all! They came PERFECTLY cooked and delicious! I’m honestly thinking about going back just for the food! To finish it off, we had the Classic Cheesecake with fresh berries, the Chocolate Layer Cake, the Italian Cream Cake , and coffee. Needless to say, that was amazing too. My tummy was so happy!

-Breakfast

Even though dinner the night before was AMAZING, I still had hesitations about breakfast. As most of you know, the majority of hotel breakfasts consist of eggs made from power, either weird bacon or questionable sausage, stale muffins, old fruit, and oatmeal. This “breakfast” (more like a brunch) consisted of awesome bacon & sausage, fresh fruit, veggies, and muffins, pancakes, a waffle maker, oatmeal, cereal, my favorite: a made to order omelet and french toast bar (that was amazing) and MUCH more! Definitely not your average hotel breakfast!

This hotel offers:

  • Adult pool time from 10pm-12am for anyone over 21. I love that option so you don’t have to worry about the pool and hottub being too crowed!

  • Complimentary unlimited cocktails from 5:30-7:30 (this is available for up to four people per room!). They mean it when they say unlimited! Let’s just say I was feeling REALLY good by the end!

  • Complimentary tennis reservations and rentals for guests!

  • A discount off of their amazing golf course!

You definitely get a bang for your buck!

Ballrooms

Now this is very important for brides since this is where the reception will most likely be, so I am glad to say it didn’t disappoint! They have three big ballrooms that can be transformed into 6 smaller areas depending on your size. The Palmetto Club Ballroom even has it’s own entrance, bar, and bathroom so your guests don’t have to leave the room and get lost! (I know I can’t be the only one who gets lost every time I have to leave to use the bathroom, right?). They also host in-house sit down and stand up dinners so you don’t have to worry about a caterer getting there late or running out of food!

Every package comes with complimentary punch, and cheese and veggie platters during the cocktail hour, and while your are getting pictures made, so you don’t have to worry about your guests starving to death during that time. Now, nobody likes to have butt freeze (a.k.a that feeling you have when you’ve been sitting for so long that you can’t feel your butt and legs) but not to fear! Their new banquet chairs are so comfy that you won’t have to worry about that! (at least not a quickly as most). The last thing I liked was the sound walls. They are so updated and new that even though there may be an event happening right beside you (like there was while I was in one of the ballrooms), you wouldn't even be able to hear it! So they can host multiple events without you even knowing!
